The Maiden

In Calgary, Alberta, a teenager mourning the loss of his best friend discovers a notebook during a walk in the woods. He then enters the intimate life of a student who had briefly been involved with the deceased before mysteriously disappearing. For his first feature film, Graham Foy captures the essence of youth, its fears, joys and secrets, with an astonishing economy of means. Magnified by a respectful camera and an attentive approach to the smallest details, this delicate, naturalistic passage to adulthood is all the more captivating.
