Homegrown cinema
Novembre
Documentary filmmakers Karine van Ameringen and Iphigénie Marcoux-Fortier collaborate once again to produce a sensitive, poetic film. In the course of relay encounters, the filmmakers capture life stories and reflections, taking us on a unique geographical and human journey in a Montreal that seems inscribed in a kind of weightlessness. Filmed in a black and white that manages to render both the nuances of light and the autumnal greyness of the Quebec metropolis, and lulled by an ethereal sound design, Novembre gently conveys the spleen or melancholy of this season, and perhaps more broadly of the times in which we live.
