The Moomin family lives happily in their peaceful valley. One fine summer, the nearby volcano erupts, triggering an incredible rise in the water level. With the valley flooded, Moomin and their family have to escape their home. Taking refuge in a floating theater, they meet Emma, the quirky owner of the place.
