Cinéma Public is proud to partner with the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal (RIDM) to present some of the award-winning films from the festival’s 26th edition. Knit’s Island was awarded the Grand Prize for International Feature Competition.
On an isolated island , laws are a thing of the past. Among the ruins of the world they once knew, people try to survive however they can—whether through urban farming or avoiding zombie attacks. Here and there, groups form and communities are born, some united by their most twisted desires, others by a new cult. It’s this completely virtual world that Knit’s Island’s three directors want to document, by spending hundreds of hours exploring the boundaries of this parallel space. Capturing both the stunning beauty of the natural landscapes and the mundanity of the survivalists’ daily lives, they set out in search of those who choose to inhabit this strange universe, where the memories they create are as tangible as those of our reality.
Please note that the screenings on December 2 and 3 are Cinéma Public presentations, and that passports, accreditations and ticket books produced by the RIDM will not be accepted.
