Cinéma Public is proud to partner with the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal (RIDM) to present some of the award-winning films from the festival’s 26th edition. Crowrã was awarded the Special Jury Prize for International Feature Competition.
The history of the Krahô people is marked by violence that has left open wounds in the memory of new generations. Their stories of resistance are as powerful as those of the carnage they survived. Crowrã bathes in the waters of ethnofiction to journey almost a century into the sovereignty of one of Brazil’s indigenous communities. Magnificently filmed, the work exudes complicity and a collective spirit, testifying to a respect for the rhythm of community life and its oral tradition. The characters, some of whom write the screenplay, play the game with total ease, giving this film an authenticity rarely seen in cinema.
Please note that the screenings on December 2 and 3 are Cinéma Public presentations, and that passports, accreditations and ticket books produced by the RIDM will not be accepted.
