Fundraising screening presented by Montreal Families for Palestine. All proceeds will go to Haneen Koraz’s animation workshops at Deir al-Balah camp, in Gaza, which offer refugee children and women a caring and creative space to express themselves through film. Dounia et la princesse d’Alep will be preceded by two short films made in these workshops.

In Syria, six-year-old Dounia lives with her grandparents, who surround her with love and tenderness. When a bomb destroys their home, they join their neighbours on a long journey to escape the military conflict ravaging the country and make their way to Europe. With the support of Leila, the princess of Aleppo, Ishtar, the protector of farmers, and five magic seeds, the migrants overcome the obstacles that stand in their way to a peaceful, normal life far from their homeland.

Special rates of $15 (adults) and $10 (under 18s). General admission: first come, first served. Please note that the maximum capacity has been increased for this screening. Some people may have to be seated in the side sections.
