L’été dernier
Pierre and Anne, a children’s rights lawyer, live happily in a luxurious home. But their lives are turned upside down by the arrival of Pierre’s son Théo, a rebellious 17-year-old. Anne tries to befriend the surly boy, erotic sparks fly and everything is put at risk. After a long absence, Catherine Breillat makes a glorious return. She once again captures erotic turmoil and the inexorable attraction of bodies, the better to explore the depths of the human soul. Everything happens in the smallest gaps and ineffable moments of ordinary lives, which surge to dizzying emotional peaks. A wrenching film whose power comes from a multitude of intimate and infinitely complex experiences. (FNC)
