Hong Kong Blues

December 12 and 14, 2024

Hong Kong Blues seeks to offer an alternative vision of Hong Kong cinema – at the antithesis of the sights usually associated with the city, whether the romantic films of Wong Kar-wai or its action cinema. Rocked by the repression of its people’s calls for self-determination, Hong Kong stands forever as a nerve center where colonialism and capitalism converge; where political exiles, refugees and overseas workers gather; and where tourists occasionally capture images of unrest worth preserving.
