Samet teaches visual arts in a village school in Anatolia and is losing hope of finally getting a position in Istanbul. His situation gets even worse when he is accused of inappropriate behaviour with one of his female students. In the Turkish director’s latest, an unusual love triangle sets off a nuanced reflection on the torments of the human soul. As in his previous films (Winter Sleep, The Wild Pear Tree), he bases his narrative on dizzying sequences of dialogue delivered by elusive characters. (FNC)
