Blue Heron
In the late 1990s, eight-year-old Sasha and her Hungarian immigrant family relocate to a new home on Vancouver Island. Their fresh start is disrupted by Jeremy, the eldest son, whose antisocial tendencies are becoming increasingly troubling. At wit’s end, the parents enlist the help of social services and are presented with a shattering solution: turning Jeremy over to professional care. Award-winning director Sophy Romvari’s semi-autobiographical feature debut is a lyrical meditation on the power of memory and a profound testament to the legacy of grief, masterfully chronicling the intense personal journey of facing and reconciling the past.
