Archipels

“A string of open islands, connected without merging” — Édouard Glissant

This new series invites you to journey across Canadian cinema by way of some ten “archipelagos,” each made up of a handful of films by a single filmmaker. These archipelagos bring into view the singularity of each work, each island, each vision, while revealing the currents that flow between them: ideas that resurface, forms that shift, recurring preoccupations. Along the way, we’ll encounter established figures and emerging artists alike, whose practices navigate between fiction, experimental cinema, documentary and the essay film.
