In 1913, German collector Wilhelm Uhde, Picasso’s first buyer and the man who discovered Henri “Le Douanier” Rousseau, rents an apartment in Senlis to write and take a break from his Parisian life. He hires a housekeeper, 48-year-old Séraphine. Some time later, at the home of local dignitaries, he notices a small painting on wood. He is astonished to learn that the artist is none other than Séraphine. Thus begins a moving and unexpected relationship between the avant-garde art dealer and the visionary housekeeper.
