In his bold feature debut, Déni Oumar Pitsaev returns to the Chechen diaspora of Pankisi Valley in northern Georgia with a dream to build a house on land his mother gifted him. Each imagined layer of this home carries the weight of family expectations, the effects of a fractured paternal bond, and the haunting legacy of war. While Déni Oumar Pitsaev navigates pressure to marry and conform, his treehouse-like architectural plans become a metaphor for his desire to belong on his own terms. Through patient observation and intimate dialogue, the filmmaker’s unresolved past unfolds, transforming a personal journey into a poignant meditation on exile, identity, and inherited memory. Shot against the stunning backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains, this visually rich film is a moving exploration of generational silence and the elusive promise of home. (RIDM/ME)
